Professor Aniekan Imo Peter is a distinguished medical academic, neuroscientist, and visionary healthcare leader with over 18 years of experience in medical education, research, and professional leadership. He currently serves as Professor of Neuro-Anatomy and Histology at the University of Uyo and Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Akwa Ibom State Branch.

An alumnus of Harvard Medical School’s Global Clinical Research Scholars Program, he also holds a PhD in Anatomy with distinction, alongside medical and anatomy degrees from the University of Calabar. His academic career has been marked by excellence in teaching, mentorship, and research, with extensive international collaborations and numerous peer-reviewed publications.

Professor Peter has held several strategic leadership positions in academia and professional organizations, including Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Deputy Provost of the College of Health Sciences at Bowen University, and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Uyo.

A passionate advocate for doctors’ welfare and healthcare system strengthening, he currently serves as National Treasurer of the Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) and has been a long-standing member of the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Medical Association. His leadership continues to influence policy, professional development, and healthcare advocacy across Nigeria.

He coordinates and supervised foundation and partnership programs of Christ disciples Ministry international USA, in Nigeria and other African countries.
