Thoughts

Because He Lives…

My friend, Jesus Christ represents life in its fullness. His life is the light of the world. Is he your life? Stop and think of the desperation, the despondency, the sadness and the gloom that his followers had all through his trial till the Friday after his crucifixion when his tomb was sealed. Their hopes and aspirations were seemingly sealed. But death could not shut him in the tomb. He triumphed over and brought death under his feet.

My friend, I want to assuredly announce that our Jesus Christ is alive. And because he lives, there is hope.  We can bravely face the uncertainties of this wicked world knowing that Jesus Christ who has defeated death is masterfully steering the course of our lives. .  He is our life; he is our deliverance, our healing, our salvation and sustenance. Jesus Christ is our defense and shield. He is the center and the sphere of our existence. Our King Jesus reigns and dominates the world in its vastness.

When he was nailed to the cross, his followers had experienced unfulfilled expectations, dashed hopes, frustrated plans and despair in him. But with the announcement that he had risen from the dead, and with Jesus Christ himself showing with many convincing proofs that he was alive, andappearing to his followers and others over a period of forty days speaking about the kingdom of God, he brought liberating news and vigor to their lives.

That Jesus Christ is raised from the dead, and is alive today is the greatest evidence that he is Lord. Now we see the proof when he says: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  When Peter was preaching with Jesus’ resurrection anointing and renewed enthusiasm about him, he confidently confessed: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

When Jesus Christ so mightily triumphed over and astoundingly defeated death, which is man’s meanest enemy, he uncommonly demonstrated his divine power and Lordship to all. No man has ever so spectacularly destroyed the sting of death, and paralyzed death’s seeming success and emerged a conqueror from its dark realm.  But Jesus did, and so reconciled us with God. He was God’s ransom for our sins. He was afflicted and bruised for our justification and today he is alive for you and me. No matter the impenetrability of the darkness in your life, Jesus Christ who swallowed up death in victory can give light to your darkness.  But you must ask and faithfully depend on him for help.
