Mercedes Castro is a dedicated employee of Ridgewood Savings Bank since 2021. She is an Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager currently managing the Norwood branch, and a Business Development District designated branch at Sedgwick Avenue, Bronx. A graduate from Mercy University, Mercedes comes to RSB with over 30 years of experience in the banking industry.

As an active community advocate, she attends numerous community meetings, hosts elder abuse workshops and participates in Teach Children to Save banking programs in partnership with various Public Schools and Senior Centers. In addition, Mercedes supports various back-to-school initiatives, and hosts community appreciation days at the branches. She organizes, maintains and volunteers at the local Soup Kitchen and actively collaborates with the local Police Precinct in all activities geared towards maintaining safety and security within the Norwood area in the Bronx. Additionally, she was recently awarded the 2025 “Power Women of the Bronx” annual event by Schnepps Media; Christ Disciples International Ministries for her leadership and excellent collaborative efforts within our communities; and by St Jemuel Group Family Daycare Inc. for unwavering dedication and support to students and families within the Bronx communities.
