The City I love

Posted on Mon, Jan 12, 2009

Jesus is returning to remove us to a place which, for well above two thousand years now, he has been preparing for us his friends. If you have ever seen or heard of a city or place of beauty in this world, none compares with where you soon will be with Jesus Christ.

One of these days, we will behold the face of Jesus Christ and physically greet him. That moment will crown all our joys, and fulfill our yearning to meet the best and truest friend, one who all along is so graciously near us, yet for his invisible presence, thousands doubt his very existence. He will take us to a better place – the city that I love.

Stop and think!  We live in a very hostile, violent, deceitful and desperately wicked world. Our condition in this  world is very lucidly described by King Solomon when he wrote:

“For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night” Ecclesiastes 2:23

Jesus is returning to remove us to a place which, for well above two thousand years now, he has been preparing for us his friends.  If you have ever seen or heard of a city or place of beauty in this world, none compares with where you soon will be with Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul said of the place:

Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9. Apostle John reported

the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof….And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. Rev. 21:21-25

In the city where you soon will be with Jesus Christ, there will be unending happiness, peace, ceaseless joy, and no heartbreaks whatsoever because

God shall wipe away all tears from (our) their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Rev. 21: 4

But dear friend, do you know who is Jesus Christ? And are you prepared to meet him? He has prepared this city for his friends only.

And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.” Rev 21:27
