The Peril of Indecision

Posted on Mon, Jan 19, 2009

The pleasure of this world might be satisfying to you, but "its joys are but a name" and too seasonal. The risks of eternal destruction and separation from God are far too great to toy with. If you are not living right with God, you must surrender to God and be total and complete in your commitment. Stop and think! God in turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes and condemning them with an overthrow has made “them an ensample to those that after should live ungodly.”

In Luke 17:32, Jesus said: “Remember Lot's wife!” Lot’s wife  was a woman with a tragic end,  who having escaped the obliteration of the city of Sodom, later became a pillar of salt because she  turned back to look at the flaming city. In her story the bible warns of a certain destruction of this world and all the unsaved who are undecided and unwilling to wholly turn to God. In reminding us of the story of Lot’s wife, Jesus, particularly, showed us an example of how God punished sin and his anger against all who are so consumed with the filtering pleasures of this world that a call for commitment to him is a joke and meaningless.

The story of Lot’s wife is found in Genesis 19. Our present world will soon be destroyed along with all those who do not know God. My friend, if your relationship with God is not right, you need to cry out to him for mercy. He will help you. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."” Romans 10:9-13

Whatever you may be - rich, poor, young or old - remember that you are not resistant or untouchable from the coming judgment of God. We will “ all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” 2 Corinthians 5:10 You are accountable to God for all your actions. You should always resist all pressures to lie, suppress or cheat to please men, but in your life, never miss an opportunity to glorify him. You would have served your purpose on earth if God is first in all you do including your job and you are daily and selflessly honoring him in your duties.

You were created with an eternal purpose to please God. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12: 1-2.  You should be readily available for God’s use whenever, wherever, and however he chooses? Be blessed.
